Reversing Osteoporosis with OsteoStrong

OsteoStrong Success Story – Katherine Reese – Age 57

Katherine was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in her spine, her bone scan revealed she had a T-Score of -4. Concerned and worried about her condition Katherine met with her doctor to discuss her options. Her doctor recommended that she be put on prescription medication which would hopefully reverse her severe osteoporosis.  After a year of being on prescription medication Katherine returned to her doctor to recieve yet another bone scan, but still there was no improvement.

Then in 2011 Katherine signed up with Osteostrong. After just 12 months of being with OsteoStrong Katherine’s T-Score in her spine went from -4 to -2.4!!! In just one year Osteostrong helped Katherine improve her bone density and reverse her osteoporosis. Katherine’s spine is no longer in osteoporosis!  No drugs or no prescription medication necessary! Just one 15 minute session per week! How does that sound?

Walking Trails Near You

Summer is almost here and that means it’s time to get outside and walk!

Not only is walking great for your physical health, it can also improve your mood and reduce stress. Physical activity doesn’t need to be complicated and something as simple as a daily walk can help maintain a healthy weight, improve coordination, and has even been shown to prevent or manage heart disease and high blood pressure.

Technique

With all physical activity, a good technique is everything. When walking, be sure to keep your head up and look forward. Relax your neck, back, and shoulders but keep your back straight, not arched. Roll smoothly from heel to toe and gently swing your arms. That’s all there is to it!

Walking Trails Near You

Now that you have your technique down, it’s time to hit the trails. Below are a few of our favorite walking trails.

Cuyahoga Falls – Gorge Metro Park: Part of Summit Metro Parks, this 155-acre trail is great for casual hiking. It also includes fishing and picnic areas with grills and restrooms.

Hartville – Quail Hollow State Park: Located on Congress Lake Ave, this 701-acre park has a total trail length of 8.5 miles, is dog friendly, and even includes mountain bike trails.

Canton – Middle Branch Trail: This limestone trail connects Canton to Plain Township. Enjoy walking by the scenic Gervasi Vineyard and past Rice’s Nursery. The park also continues past Schneider Street and loops around GlenOak High School.

Massillon – Sippo Valley Trail: Approximately 8-miles, this trail is great for a casual walk or jog. The trail transitions from asphalt to limestone overlooking Sippo Creek for most of the route.

Now that you know where to go, hit the trails and walk!

Don’t Let Age Slow You Down

One of our goals is to live the best quality of life we can as we age.  At OsteoStrong, we want you to enjoy a pain-free, healthy, active life. While it’s true that everyone eventually feels the effects of bone and muscle loss after age 30, you should not have to sacrifice the activities you love.  Walking, hiking, fishing, biking, and especially being able to play with your grandchildren are all activities you should be able to enjoy.

Your bones, muscles, and balance weaken as you age, but don’t let that stop you!

At Osteostrong, we want to slow down and eventually reverse this process. It’s not exercise, in fact exercise does not increase bone density, it only increases muscle strength (learn more here: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/02/health/exercise-is-not-the-path-to-strong-bones.html?_r=2). We are not a gym, and the activities you perform at OsteoStrong won’t even make you break a sweat.  During your 5-10 minute session, you will perform events on patented technology that provide real results. In a case study of post-menopausal women conducted with the United Kingdom National Health Services, participants increased the bone density of their hip and spine by an average of 14.9% and 16.6%, respectively, after just 6 months of once-weekly osteogenic-loading sessions (link to full study below).

Testimonials:

“It feels good. When I come in here, I come prepared to go shopping or go to the grocery store or whatever. I just get on the machine at the OsteoStrong center and do what I have to do, and then go about my business when I leave. It’s real easy and real nice. I don’t mind it, and in fact I look forward to it.”

“I went to a gym when I was in my 20’s, and you get hot and get sweaty. You’d spend an hour at the gym. And I feel like I got a lot better results here than I did when I was at a gym when I was in my 20’s.”
